Quintic's 2D CAD expertise is deeply rooted, dating back to the very beginnings of mainstream CAD. Our teams develop and maintain entire 2D systems for large systems vendors, and apply their expert knowledge to small and medium-sized projects for engineering firms of all sizes. We also offer consultancy services based around the 2D systems we have helped to develop, to include customisations for MEDUSA4® and STHENO/PRO®. 2D CAD Systems Development

Quintic's experts provide a significant amount of both core and application development for two world class, powerful drafting systems: STHENO/PRO and MEDUSA4. Quintic works on these products in partnership with CAD Schroer, a worldwide engineering software and systems vendor, which acquired Quintic in 2005.

The MEDUSA4 product suite, developed by Quintic in partnership with CAD Schroer Germany, includes a fully featured 2D drafting system alongside 3D plant design and data management applications, and many other add-ons. Used by thousands of companies worldwide, MEDUSA4's proven capabilities extensively automate the design process, and substantially reduce development time and cost in all fields of design - from 2D layout, to 2D parametric design, to manufacturing.

CAD Schroer first introduced its major fourth generation release of MEDUSA in 2004 and has continued to expend a major development effort to introduce new modules and features and take advantage of the latest technologies, positioning the product to dominate in the field of design automation.

STHENO/PRO - Powerful drafting for Pro/ENGINEER® users

STHENO/PRO, developed by Quintic in partnership with CAD Schroer Germany, is a professional-grade intelligent drafting package which can be used standalone, or fully integrated with Pro/DETAIL™, significantly expanding the Pro/ENGINEER design environment. STHENO/PRO offers a highly efficient and intuitive user interface, simplifying design processes within a familiar working environment. STHENO/PRO is the only professional drafting product designed specifically for Pro/E, with full Pro/INTRALINK® and Windchill® support, as well as excellent DXF/DWG data exchange.

The product suite also includes a colour raster module, standard CAD parts library, and Web-based sheet viewer.

MEDUSA4 and STHENO/PRO Consultancy Projects

CAD System Customisation - PDF Plot Utility

Quintic developed a PDF plot utility for Sulzer Pumps, one of the world's leading pump, mixer and agitator manufacturers and longstanding MEDUSA4 users. The company uses CAD Schroer's MEDUSA4 design automation suite for product design and manufacturing. The utility integrates directly with the company's Enterprise Resource Management (ERP) system. At appropriate points in the design workflow, it automatically converts MEDUSA4 drawings into PDFs and checks them into the company's document management system.

Development of a Tool for Six Sigma Tolerance Calculation

In this project we wrote a customisation for a leading French connector manufacturer in the industrial, military and aerospace markets. The tool calculates six sigma tolerances within MEDUSA4 to ensure the most accurate results in production.

CAD and EDM System Installation, Configuration, Customisation and Testing and Training Services

A customer who provides systems for replenishing and refueling at sea asked us to install, configure, customise, test and provide user raining for its MEDUSA4 drafting and MEDInfo data management environment. Our consultant also created customised mappings between MEDUSA4 and AutoCAD® for consistent CAD data exchange.

Creation of a Batch Conversion Program to Convert MEDUSA4 CAD Drawings to PDF

The customer, the UK's leading supplier of electricity transmission and distribution systems, services and consultancy, asked us to develop a customisation which would enable designers to batch convert MEDUSA4 mechanical design drawings to PDF. The tool is directory-driven, so that files placed in a specific directory are automatically converted as part of the company's design workflow.

Training Workshop for the STHENO/PRO ADVANCED™ Drafting Software for Pro/ENGINEER®

The client, the United Kingdom's leading independent supplier of accessible buses for public transportation systems, asked us to conduct a user training workshop for CAD Schroer's STHENO/PRO ADVANCED drafting software for Pro/ENGINEER, and the STHENO/LINK™ Windchill® PDMLink™ Interface. Training was conducted on-site at the company's offices.

Development of Support for Bentley Microstation® for CAD Skills Assessment Software

Quintic was asked by a customer who develops and markets software which enables companies to easily and automatically assess the skills of their CAD team and potential new hires, to develop support for Bentley Microstation testing in its software, porting existing AutoCAD® testing functionality.

2D Sketching and Editing Tool for Ship Designs

In the area of 2D design, Quintic provides its specialist skills to Lloyd's Register, the global risk management organisation, as a development partner appointed principally for its CAD and graphics expertise.

Lloyd's Register Marine Division asked Quintic to deliver an intelligent, graphically-driven system to enable users to easily sketch and edit ship designs, a key functional area for its Special Service Craft (SSC) software. Drawing now replaces the more tedious entry of design values, and additional functionality allows engineers to define single bottom floors. Intelligent tools, like snap-to-hull options, greatly speed up the verification process.
