Web Application Development Projects
Quintic has delivered many Web-enabled solutions over the years, and our teams are always keeping up to date with the newest and most cost-effective technologies available. Many of our recent projects have focused on Web-enabling existing products, thus enhancing and giving a new lease of life to proven technologies. Below are some of the projects we have recently undertaken.
MEDInfo - Global Engineering Document Management
Quintic's Web team recently delivered the MEDUSA4 MedInfo information and document management system to our development partner CAD Schroer, owner of the MEDUSA4 drafting suite. This development project consisted of a complete re-architecture of a LAN-based document management system, in order to provide a fully Web-based application, supporting world-wide access while minimising the system administration effort.
MEDUSA4 MedInfo provides functionality for controlling and updating all engineering-related data throughout the design process, to include bills of material, project documents, and technical drawings (electronic and paper-based designs).
The system allows engineers to easily find and incorporate parts from other drawings into their existing work. It can also track stock numbers and quantities, and supports complex procedures for document testing and release in aid of Total Quality Management, including the ISO 9000 standard.
Most importantly, the data management functionality, delivered through the user's Web browser, is available in a multi-user, multi-location environment, which provides for secure, controlled document access, and file-locking to prevent simultaneous editing. The entire system is highly customisable, and quickly adaptable to corporate styles and access requirements.

Implementation of the MEDInfo Web-based Information Management System
Quintic implemented and customised the Web-based MEDInfo Engineering Information Management System to suit corporate processes and workflows for a customer who provides systems for replenishing and refueling at sea. Our consultant then conducted MEDUSA4 and MEDInfo user training.
Web-based Process Management and E-learning Software
This project involved the development of a Web-based application for online dissemination and communication of corporate processes and procedures for quality assurance, elearning and regulatory compliance. The software includes:
The authoring module was written exclusively in Java, and was one of the largest (around 1/4 million lines of code) Java-based software systems developed at the time.
Design and Development of Browser-based Stock Control and Ordering Software to Interface with New ERP System
In this project the client, an expanding home and lifestyle shop which trades through over 150 outlets in the UK as well as online, asked Quintic to design and develop a browser-based application for in-store use, which interfaces with a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, and allows users to carry out important in-store processes, such as checking stock availability and raising orders. Ease of use, ease of learning and a professional look and feel were essential requirements for the application.
Development of a Technical Specification for Search Marketing Ad Placement Automation and Analysis
The client, a leading professional affiliate marketing company, asked Quintic to write a technical specification for a custom software development project involving online merchant and pay-per-click campaign management. The custom-built software solution is intended to replace client's current systems and pull together a number of disparate but related internal processes. The project included a familiarisation with and analysis the company's business model and current systems and processes; a breakdown of the objectives and critical elements of the new system, system stages and detailed descriptions of procedures to be automated.
